NATURAL LIGHTING FAMILY PHOTOJOURNALIST FOR NEW YORK AND SURROUNDING AREAS
Pregnancy is such a special and memorable time. These are your first moments of parenthood, and they are priceless. The problem is that many times a woman does not feel attractive during pregnancy… I really love captureing her true natural beauty – I love making pregnant women feel beautiful. I’ll use the right angles to shoot and manipulate the lighting to get the best effect, and will provide you with beautiful, tasteful and flattering images that will be a treasured keepsake.
SCHEDULING – Best captured around 32 to 37 weeks, when your belly is full and round, but can be scheduled all the way up until your due date. This timing can be different for everyone.
HOW LONG WILL OUR SESSION LAST? – Maternity photography sessions generally last 1-1.5 hours. There is plenty of time for an outfit change, creative props, and some portraits together with big brother / sister or Daddy-to-be.
LOCATION – Whether you prefer fine art maternity photography in the studio, or stylish lifestyle photos outdoors, there are endless possibilities for beautiful maternity art. I have lots of favorite locations, and I’m always happy to help you select the ideal setting for your shoot.
WHAT TO WEAR – Clothing is a key element for Maternity Photography. I recommend outfits that flatter your shape and accentuate your curves. A long flowing skirt with a bandeaux bra. Add a beautiful cardigan with just one button closed above your bare belly. Bring both solid white and solid black clothing. A men’s white dress shirt, a belly band that can act as a tube top and jeans all work well. Your favourite maternity top or dress is also a great to start the maternity session and get you comfortable in front of the camera, while giving you images you feel comfortable sending to your folks! Have fun with accessories to add pops of bright color and dimension to your portraits – rich textures, patterns, chunky jewelry, scarves, hats, headbands, and ruffles.
If you’d like to capture artistic topless images, I recommend a nice pair of undergarments. Lace trim adds a beautiful touch to fine art maternity portraits. There is never any pressure to show more skin than you feel comfortable though if you are, please wear socks and undergarments with loose elastics that won’t leave marks on the skin when removed.
If you’d like to dress up your belly with artistic paint please visit Julie Clapperton at PeoplePaint – wonderful artist and person – she has a real artist’s touch and she’ll make you feel and look even more special. Give her a try.
POST-PROCESSING & ORDERING – It will take two to three weeks post session till I invite you for your proofing session when you will be able to select the images you would like to order. I’ll select the best images for processing and retouching. Carefully compare the hundreds of images from your session to select the best ones from each concept — based on facial expressions, posing, lighting, sharpness, and overall appeal. I offer a variety of keepsake albums, fine art prints, digital packages and collections to suit every client so your custom art will be enjoyed for generations!
